T-Mobile Introduces Edge Control and T-Platform for High Capacity, Sensitive Needs

T-Mobile has introduced two products — Edge Control and T-Platform — that are optimized for an era in which increasing amounts of sensitive data is used in real time. In these scenarios, uptime is vital and network controls are priorities. The company says artificial intelligence (AI) is making such scenarios increasingly common, and this landscape can pose particular challenges for Wi-Fi networks.

T-Platform is a 5G portfolio platform that provides seamless access and centralized control of all T-Mobile for Business offerings.

T-Mobile says Edge Control provides the benefits of a private network without the overhead of deployment and management. It creates what the company says is seamless data transfer between end points, servers, and compute assets. This reduces latency, ensures data sovereignty and simplifies scalability. It operates within the organization’s existing infrastructure.

T-Mobile’s T-Platform and Edge Control are available now.

“Networks should accelerate ambition, not hold it back,” T-Mobile Business Group’s Chief Marketing Officer Mo Katibeh said in a press release. “With Edge Control and T-Platform, we’re giving businesses tools to work faster, safer and smarter — while making network management as simple as it should be. This is what the future of connectivity looks like and it’s here today.”

Wi-Fi and cellular networks are “frenemies” that both work together and attempt to gain market share from each other. This competition is implicit in the T-Mobile announcement of Edge Control and T-Platform, which claims that in the most data intensive and exacting use cases, Wi-Fi can fall short.

Last week, T-Mobile introduced the Cyber Defense Center, a facility that is designed to enable its security teams to better detect, disrupt and respond to cyber threats in real time, and its new Executive Briefing Center, a gateway for enterprise customers and partners to explore T-Mobile’s technology in action.
