Starlink Mini Now Available Nationwide

SpaceX’s Starlink Mini satellite is now available for everyone in the United States. When the product was introduced last month, it was available only for a select few customers.

Starlink Mini is a compact, portable kit designed to be able to fit in a backpack, enabling the user to have high-speed, low-latency internet on the go. The service promises speeds of 5-50 Mbps, with setup possible in as little as two minutes. The standard Starlink service plan offers 150-250 Mbps.

The base hardware for the Starlink Mini is available for $499. Service is available starting at $50 per month, which provides the user with 50 G of data. Starlink touts this plan as best suited to weekend travelers, backup internet, and in-motion use. For $150 per month, the user has access to unlimited data. Starlink markets the unlimited plan as best for RVers, campers, and travelers throughout a continent.

Subscribers can pause or unpause their service at any time. Billing is in one-month increments.

The product includes the dish/terminal, a kickstand, a pipe adapter, DC power cable, power supply and Starlink plug. The dish measures just under 12 inches by just over 10 inches by just under two inches and weighs about two and a half pounds (just over three pounds when the kickstand and cable are included).

Starlink has other plans designed for stationary residential users and for boat owners. When Starlink first announced the service, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk boasted, “This product will change the world.” Now that the product is widely available in the United States, his claim remains to be verified.
