Spectrum MNE

Charter Communications’ Spectrum Enterprises has introduced three enhancements to it its Managed Network Edge (MNE) platform. MNE is a managed network solution based on the Cisco Meraki cloud-based platform and is designed to simplify implementation and management of local-area and wide-area networks (LANs and WANs).

The three enhancements, which were developed in association with Cisco, are Remote Access, Teleworker and Virtual Edge:

  • Remote Access enables remote workers to easily and securely connect to their corporate network through the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client application. The key is an encrypted tunnel to the client’s network. The traffic is provided with additional firewall and unified threat management (UTM) protection as it traverses the Internet.
  • Teleworker provides a simple and secure hardware gateway between remote workers’ devices and the MNE network. Charter says it provides an “in-office network experience,” that includes traffic prioritization and fast access to Internet-based applications. It extends the visibility, control and IT policy enforcement of the network to workers’ remote environments.
  • Virtual Edge delivers what Charter says is simple and secure connectivity to business-critical applications through Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and the Google Cloud Platform. It provides traffic prioritization and application-aware routing to a company’s public cloud connections.

“The Spectrum Enterprise Managed Network Edge enhancements expand our managed offerings to include managing end users who connect to public clouds, private clouds, or the corporate wide area network,” Bob Schroeder, the vice president of enterprise data product management for Spectrum Enterprise, said in a press release about the Spectrum Managed Network Edge enhancements. “Through our collaboration with Cisco, Spectrum Enterprise is now one of the first network providers to add the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client into a managed Meraki solution.”

MNE is aimed at medium-sized and large enterprises. Charter says that it offers multiple network connectivity options, proactive monitoring, 24/7/365 support, service level agreements and professional installation.

Spectrum Enterprise unveiled a new brand identity and launched a campaign last November.
