SoCal Carrier Launches Mobile UC With Metaswitch

San Francisco, December 4, 2012 – Metaswitch Networks, a leading provider of the software and solutions that power a whole new generation of communications services, today announced a new deployment of its Accession technology with telecom service provider Datavo, under its myDatavo™ brand.

Accession Communicator not only delivers a rich communications experience but allows subscribers to gracefully move calls between wireless and wireline network infrastructures, and between smart mobile endpoints, broadband-connected PCs and fixed line phones, all while the call is in progress.

“We have listened to our business customers and anticipated their requirements for a reliable, consistent and hassle-free user experience,” said Rhaphael Tarpley, Datavo’s chief operating officer. “Accession is the cornerstone of our myDatavo portfolio, putting mobility at the heart of a hosted offering that is now fully integrated across wireline and wireless endpoints. This level of integration and advanced functionality surpasses solutions currently offered by OTT-only service providers.”

Metaswitch has been a technology partner to Datavo for several years, providing the service provider with the infrastructure for network migration from TDM to VoIP.  With big ambitions in the SMB sector, Datavo realized it could extend its Metaswitch investment to achieve a differentiated offering for all subscribers, including businesses migrating to hosted telephony services.

“Metaswitch’s Accession portfolio finally makes mobile UC deployable as a usable business service,” said Al Cook, vice president of product marketing at Metaswitch.  “Our focus on voice and video quality over lossy wireless networks, battery life management and platform independence makes this a real solution for customers’ modern BYOD environments.”
