sling tvSling TV is celebrating its second anniversary with some promotions, including a Sling TV free preview. In a blog post, Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch recounted the organization’s growth and development.

Offering live TV programming and content via the Internet at a starting price of $20 a month, Sling TV started out with one base service, three extras and just over 25 channels upon launching in Feb. 2015. Today, that has grown to two base services, seven extras, three premium channels and well over 100 standard channels, as well as more than 30,000 VOD titles, according to Lynch.

Management is doling out some gifts throughout February in celebration of the company’s second birthday, as well.

Those interested in becoming subscribers will be able to access a free preview of Sling Orange (a Sling TV channel line-up) on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and Feb. 12, as well as select, live NCAA college and NBA basketball games.

They’ll also be able to watch the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC, Lynch points out. Starting Sunday, the premiere is preceded by Saturday’s AMC Walking Dead marathon, Lynch points out in the blog post.

Existing customers will get a free preview of Sling TV’s premium HBO and Starz programming.

Lynch also announced Sling TV will be expanding its DVR roll-out, which is in beta testing, to include Amazon, Android TV and Android mobile devices. Addition of Apple TV is to follow.

Sling TV launched a trial version of its cloud DVR storage service in December. Its Live TV OTT video service went live on Apple TV last June.
