Apple has launched Siri AI, the artificial intelligence-powered version of its personal assistant. The feature is currently available for developer testing, and Apple plans to release a beta version later this year.
Siri AI is built on Apple Intelligence. It will offer what Apple describes as a “profoundly more capable and conversational assistant” that offers personal context understanding, world knowledge, and onscreen awareness. Siri AI can answer questions from the web on virtually any topic and find information from a user’s personal messages, emails, photos, and other places, the company’s announcement said.
Siri AI includes a dedicated app that enables users to revisit conversations across their products, expanded Visual Intelligence image decoding capabilities, and integrated writing tools.
Once it is widely available, Siri AI will be available the same way Siri is currently accessed on Apple devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and laptops.
“We’re excited to introduce Siri AI, a dramatically more capable and conversational assistant designed to help users find information and get things done throughout the day,” Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, said in a press release.
“With access to broad world knowledge for up-to-date answers on virtually any topic, along with onscreen awareness and personal context understanding, Siri AI can help users take action across apps more naturally than ever.”
The advance of AI poses a challenge and potential threat to networks. In September 2024, MobileExperts Inc. said that Siri, Google Assistant and similar platforms and services will drive an unprecedented amount of uplink traffic to mobile networks.
The effort to provide enough bandwidth to support the growth of AI is ongoing. For instance, earlier this month T-Mobile introduced Dynamic CX, a technology that it says can make networks operate more efficiently.
