Robocalls continue to decline, sort of: Report

Though consumers received just over 3.8 billion robocalls in February 2026 — an eye-popping total — the amount actually was down from the previous month and from the same month in 2025, according to the Robocall Index report from YouMail.

The February 2026 total was down 1.3% from January 2026, and down a significant 14% from February of 2025. However, the month’s total was still a little less than 100 million above October’s 2025 multi-year low.

Some of the month-to-month decline can be explained by the calendar; February has 28 days and January has 31. So the daily, hourly, and per-second volume of robocalls increased during the month, the report said. February averaged 136.8 million robocalls per day and 1,583 robocalls per second, up more than 9% from January’s 125.2 million robocalls per day and 1,449 robocalls per second.

The report found that all major categories of robocalls fell during the month — there was a 3% drop in notifications, an 11% reduction in payment reminders, and a 4% decrease in unwanted telemarketing and scam calls.

February’s most annoying robocall campaigns are once again involved in unsolicited “pre-approved” loan offers. One particularly widespread campaign claiming to be from Crestwood Loan Advisors delivered a uniform message across tens of thousands of phone numbers.

“It’s encouraging to see both January and February of 2026 maintain meaningfully lower robocall volumes than December,” Alex Quilici, YouMail CEO, said in a prepared statement about the robocall report. “This marks six consecutive months averaging under four billion robocalls, which last happened in May of 2022, nearly 4 years ago.”

Robocalls had fallen significantly in January in 2026, down 5.6% from the previous month and down 18% from the same month in 2025.

The January Robocall report also showed that January’s robocall total was only 3.8% higher than the October 2025 total, which marked a multi-year low. During the month, there was e were an average of 125.2 million robocalls per day and 1,449 robocalls per second, down from 132.6 million robocalls per day and 1,535 robocalls per second in December 2025.
