Rise Broadband Acquires MidAtlanticBroadband Assets in Missouri

Regional fiber and fixed wireless access (FWA) provider Rise Broadband has added almost 10,000 residential and business customers with the acquisition of MidAtlanticBroadband’s fiber broadband business in Missouri.

MidAtlanticBroadband, which is branded as Yondoo Broadband, is active in eight markets in the eastern part of Missouri. The communities are Kahoka, Canton, La Grange, Bowling Green, Elsberry, Potosi, Belle, and Bland.

Rise Broadband is a portfolio company of GI Data Infrastructure, an investment firm that has raised more than $43 billion in capital.

“We are excited to support Rise Broadband’s continued growth with this high-quality asset that furthers our geographic expansion,” Emily Azer, Director of GI Data Infrastructure and Bill Glennon, Principal of GI Data Infrastructure said in the announcement

“Since our acquisition in February 2023, Rise Broadband has been rapidly expanding its footprint through the deployment of new fiber-to-the-home networks and through the upgrade of its hybrid fixed wireless infrastructure.”

Rise provides telecommunications services to 16 states.

In May, Rise Broadband said it would provide fiber broadband to 60,000 residences and businesses in south Texas and 5,000 in Illinois. The company’s fiber services now are available to 25 communities in Texas.

The company also said in May that it had completed a project to bring 1 Gbps fiber broadband to the Illinois towns of Argenta, Forsyth, Latham, Maroa, Mt. Pulaski, Oreanan and Warrensburg. Rise said it was the first broadband option for Maroa.

Rise’s strategy of buying and consolidating smaller FWA companies has made it one of only 11 providers serving more than 5% of the U.S. population.
