Press Release

Princeton, NJ – April 8, 2014 – RCN Business, an industry-leading provider of high-speed Internet, voice, video and network solutions, announces today that it has achieved the Metro Ethernet Forum’s (MEF) rigorous Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) certification. Achieving MEF CE 2.0 certification indicates the ability of a communications provider to deliver today’s most advanced Ethernet services.

Carriers that have achieved CE 2.0 certification are recognized for their ability to deliver Ethernet services at a higher quality and reliability than non-certified services. RCN Business maintains its state-of-the-art, wholly owned network in major markets across the country, delivering advanced connectivity to enterprises, healthcare, education, government, financial services organizations and other entities that demand the most from their networks.

“To date, only nine U.S. carriers have achieved CE 2.0 certification, with many not expected to finalize and achieve certification until 2015,” states Robert Roeder, EVP and Chief Development Officer for RCN Business. “Our focus is to provide the most reliable and standards-compliant solution to meet the complex networking needs of our business customers. RCN delivers the credibility and assurance that define CE 2.0.”

RCN Business has achieved CE 2.0 certification for E-Line, E-LAN and E-Access services.

“The MEF views the Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification program as opening a very important chapter in the evolution of standardized Carrier Ethernet services,” said Eric Puetz, MEF Certification Committee Co-Chair & Director. “CE 2.0 certification provides an essential proof point for CE 2.0 services, opening up new markets for regional providers, delivery of cloud services, the first application-oriented SLAs and optimization of mobile backhaul.”

The MEF is the global defining body for Carrier Ethernet and works to accelerate the worldwide adoption of carrier-class Ethernet networks and services.
