Which of Monday night’s main events would you think attracted more in the way of OTT viewers: the Hillary Clinton/ Donald Trump presidential debate or Monday Night Football, which this week paired the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons? According to Sling TV, it was no contest.
According to Sling TV, the presidential election debate at its peak attracted a whopping 68% more viewers than the Monday Night Football game, Roger Lynch revealed in a Sept. 27 post of the company’s blog.
In addition, Sling TV ¨trumped¨ all of its previous viewership records, Lynch highlights.
Presidential debate viewership rose very quickly once it started as compared to the NFL match-up. Viewers also stayed with the debate right to the end. More than 10 times as many people watched it in its entirety on Sling Orange as compared to this week’s Monday Night Football game. Thirty percent of Sling TV viewers watched the entire debate as compared to 3% who did so for the football game.
Overall, CNN’s debate broadcast accounted for 53% of Sling Orange viewership Monday night. A testament to the popularity and loyalty of New Orleans Saints’ fans, Sling TV found that more viewers in Louisiana watched the Monday Night Football game than in any other state.
