KINGFISHER, OK-JUNE 18, 2012-Pioneer Cellular has announced a new Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) which is a emergency based alert system, that will allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to deliver warning messages to wireless networks from the President of the United States, the National Weather Service and state and local emergency operations centers as well as AMBER alerts for missing children.

CMAS alerts are free wireless notifications delivered to mobile devices of Pioneer’s wireless subscribers and are designed to inform wireless users of imminent threats to safety or missing persons alerts. Special software and hardware changes have been made to Pioneer’s system to support CMAS capabilities. However at this time, not all Cellular devices are CMAS capable.

CMAS alerts are geographically targeted and only customers with CMAS capable devices operating within the targeted alert zone will receive alerts. Devices operating outside of the targeted geographical areas will not receive the alerts.
