HUNTSVILLE, AL- March 4, 2013 –ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, announced today that OmniTel Communications is reaching the unreachable by providing ultra broadband Internet service via ADTRAN’s Total Access broadband platform. As a RUS grant winner in the national Broadband Stimulus program, OmniTel is also helping carry out the statewide initiative of the Iowa Broadband Deployment Governance board by making sure that no customer is left behind and that high-speed broadband service is available in rural areas of the state. ADTRAN’s Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) solution is enabling OmniTel to deliver high-speed connectivity for customers who previously only had access to dial-up Internet service and provide digital voice and video services for over 7,000 subscribers across the state.
Seeing the growing demand from residential customers for super-premium services, OmniTel Communications turned to ADTRAN to help deliver its next-generation services profitably and with an ultra-low cost of ownership. ADTRAN’s FTTH solutions offer service-aware provisioning and virtually unlimited network bandwidth, allowing OmniTel to expand their addressable market with maximum flexibility. Utilizing Active Ethernet technology, OmniTel is also able to deliver end-to-end Ethernet connectivity, which allows OmniTel to maximize end-user revenue opportunities today and in the future.
“We had heard from other colleagues, using other vendor platforms, that getting FTTH services deployed was a challenging process. With ADTRAN our installation was seamless and our network was up and running quickly without any issues,” said Bill Knoop, plant manager at OmniTel Communications. “ADTRAN’s FTTH solution is rock solid – it just works. We have been very impressed with the reliability and efficiency of the Total Access 5000. It gives us the ability to provide superior service to our customers with very little maintenance or administration.”
“Regardless if they are in a big city or a rural community, residential customers expect fast and reliable Internet, voice and video service from their local providers,” said Mitch Fleming, regional vice president, sales, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “OmniTel Communications is successfully meeting this demand with ADTRAN’s FTTH solution which allows them to offer a high-capacity fiber access network that easily scales to handle the most bandwidth intensive and highly profitable next-generation services.”
