Omni Fiber is expanding its network in Western Pennsylvania through the acquisition of Citizens Fiber. Citizens Fiber provides fiber internet, TV, and phone service in communities throughout Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, including Acme, Greensburg, Latrobe, Mammoth, Mt. Pleasant, Norvelt, Pleasant Unity, Youngstown, and surrounding areas. Terms of the deal were not announced.
With the acquisition of Citizens Fiber, Omni Fiber will serve an expanded base of residential and business customers with symmetrical speeds of up to 10 Gbps, no hidden fees, no data caps, and premium Wi-Fi, the company said.
According to the press release announcing the deal, Citizens Fiber has a strong reputation for quality and reliable fiber-based services in Westmoreland County, so it was a good fit fit with Omni Fiber’s strategic plan to offer 100% fiber-optic broadband to communities that have historically had limited broadband.
Omni Fiber has invested more than $500 million in fiber network construction and is currently expanding across Ohio, Michigan, and Texas as well as Pennsylvania.
“This acquisition is an exciting milestone for Omni Fiber and a testament to our commitment to bringing advanced fiber connectivity to every community we serve,” Darrick Zucco, Omni Fiber CEO, said in a prepared statement about the Citizens Fiber acquisition.
“Citizens Fiber has built a tremendous foundation in Westmoreland County, and we are proud to build on that legacy. Our combined network will give residents and businesses in the region access to the fastest, most reliable Internet available — delivered with the local, customer-centric service they deserve.”
Omni Fiber received capital from additional financing secured late last year. The company received an additional $200 million in financing from Oak Hill Capital, Stonepeak Credit, and Oak Hill Advisors. At the time, Omni Fiber said it planned to use the funds to continue its expansion in the Midwest and Texas.
