SAN JOSE, Calif., and West Jefferson, North Carolina—June 28, 2011 — Allied Telesis, global provider of IP/Ethernet access solutions for network service provider, enterprise, and government networks, today announced its selection by SkyLine Telephone Membership Corporation (“SkyLine”) to provide Gigabit Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) access infrastructure to deliver broadband Internet, video and voice services. The award follows a competitive bid and evaluation process in conjunction with $29 million in grants and loans secured through the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). The IP access technology supplier to SkyLine since 2005, Allied Telesis has been widely used by SkyLine for residential FTTH Triple Play service deployments. SkyLine will use the grants and loans to expand FTTH for Triple Play services in the rural communities of Ashe and Alleghany counties in North Carolina, along with Johnson County, Tennessee. SkyLine will install approximately 900 miles of new fiber to the targeted communities.
SkyLine will deploy the Allied Telesis iMAP™ 9810 (integrated Multiservice Access Platform) and iMG 726BD (intelligent Multiservice Gateway) to provide Gigabit FTTH services. SkyLine relies on the Allied Telesis AlliedView™ Network Management System (NMS) to perform auto-provisioning and critical management functions, enabling the NMS to support rapid service provisioning along with a number of tiered service options for a competitive advantage. The NMS also allows SkyLine greater efficiency through a centralized management platform.
“Allied Telesis has been the SkyLine access supplier of choice for a number of years,“ commented Robbie Farmer, engineering manager at SkyLine. “The iMAP and iMG FTTH solution has a rich feature set at the right price that compared very favorably to the other vendors we evaluated during our competitive bid process. Additionally, the AlliedView NMS played a key role in our decision. We regard it as a powerful tool for SkyLine’s customer services and network operations needs.”
Todd Trenasty, senior vice president, sales at Allied Telesis noted, “Allied Telesis commitment to developing market-leading IP/Ethernet solutions that enable the delivery of converged voice, data and video services over secure and reliable networks is validated by our selection by SkyLine Telephone Membership Corporation. Our goal is to bring innovative and high value networking solutions for service provider, education, healthcare, transportation, retail and enterprise markets worldwide, and this award from SkyLine serves as another outstanding example.”
