Press Release

Hays KS – September 1, 2013 – Preparations are under way at Nex-Tech Wireless to deploy fourth-generation (4G) long-term evolution (LTE) technology across their network.  Nex-Tech Wireless has purchased equipment for the advanced 4G wireless network from Ericsson, a world leader in mobile technologies, and installation is in process. Extensive network testing will take place in the upcoming months and Nex-Tech Wireless plans to deploy 4G LTE by the end of 2013.

“Our network strategy has always been to provide the same technology that is offered in metropolitan areas to the residents of rural Kansas” said Jeff Kisner, Director of Network Operations for Nex-Tech Wireless.  “The LTE network will provide a robust experience for our customers.  This investment illustrates our commitment to our customers.”

The first phase of Nex-Tech Wireless’ 4G LTE rollout will include the cities of Hays, Great Bend and Salina.  Additional areas will also be covered with this first phase which is expected to be fully-operational by the end of 2013.  Nex-Tech Wireless will continue their strategic rollout of the 4G LTE network in 2014.

4G LTE technology improves data speeds, which is a major benefit in this data-intensive culture.  Customers will experience these increased speeds while streaming video and music, online gaming and various “cloud-based” applications.  Customers can expect a data and Internet experience that is closer to real-time with download speeds averaging 6-8 mbps and upload speeds of 2-5 mbps, which is about 10 times faster than 3G.
