Windstream Wholesale has unveiled a network intelligence tool within its iconnect customer portal that will enable users to design their own wavelength routes. The new tool will be available at the end of this month, the company said.
The Route Creator tool provides customers with a clear view of the Windstream Intelligent Converged Optical Network (ICON)’s accessible wave routes.
Customers can evaluate up to five wavelength route options, helping their network management capabilities. The tool gives customers access to data on mileage, latency, and number of network hops aligned to each route option. Users of the tool can customize the route options by adding route diversity as necessary.
Route Creator integrates into the iconnect customer portal, which turns the desired design into a quote to make the process faster and more efficient. Users also can export available route options to KMZ files so that network planners can download them.
“Windstream Wholesale is dedicated to shaping the future of technology and network intelligence,” Joe Scattareggia, Windstream Wholesale president, said in a prepared statement. “Equally important is our commitment to eliminating barriers and service obstacles for our customers. We ensure complete network visibility and expedite connections based on our customers’ needs.”
The Route Creator is the latest Windstream Wholesale announcement. Last month the company said its new dark fiber route between Little Rock, Ark. and Memphis became operational. In May of last year, the company announced Regional Rapid Fiber, a 400G pluggable-based wave service designed to support point-to-point connections within multiple regional sites.
