October 26, 2011 — HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Consolidated Telephone extended its strategic relationship with ADTRAN. Consolidated Telephone, who is a provider of integrated communications services to business and residents in central Nebraska, will expand their existing Total Access® 5000 access infrastructure with Optical Networking Edge (ONE) to provide an edge-optimized Packet Optical Transport Solution (P-OTS).
Currently using the Total Access 5000 to migrate its legacy network to next-generation voice and data services, Consolidated will now evolve to a service-aware transport solution. End-to-end service awareness is delivered by the management integration of both the service delivery and transport infrastructures. By implementing ONE, Consolidated will be able to simplify operations and improve customer quality-of-service as they offer and maintain high-bandwidth and high-value services such as mobile backhaul and video.
“Over the past year, we have seen tremendous growth in our network and the Total Access 5000 has facilitated a smooth transition from our legacy to next-generation services with the flexibility and scalability we needed each step of the way,” said Jason Axthelm, CTO, Consolidated Telephone. “As we look to the future we know that customer demand is only going to increase and the ADTRAN ONE portfolio will enable us to effectively grow our network as we look to provide even more high-end services.”
The ADTRAN ONE portfolio allows service providers like Consolidated to benefit from converged network scalability for service delivery, aggregation and transport applications. The operator easily removes network bottlenecks associated with network aggregation by simply inserting ONE blades into the Total Access 5000 platform. This allows efficient network capacity expansion in 10G increments up to 440G.
“Consolidated Telephone has been a great partner to ADTRAN and we are pleased to extend that relationship with the addition of the ONE portfolio into their network infrastructure,” said Mitch Fleming, regional vice president, sales, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “ONE provides the pay-as-you-grow modularity Consolidated needs to allow them to accelerate the time-to-market for new high-bandwidth revenue opportunities and at the same time eliminate multi-box cost and complexity, while simplifying operations.”
