Nebraska CLEC Completes Data Center

(North Platte, Nebraska) September 29, 2011 – Today, Pinpoint Communications announced the completion of a 1,700 square foot, free standing data center in North Platte. The facility’s anchor tenant is an earthstation uplink/downlink for a major wireless carrier, leasing half of the building.

Of the project, Pinpoint Chief Technical Officer Ralph Armendariz said, “The North Platte facility is an extension of our Denver to Chicago backbone.  We built ten-gigabit facilities into the Data Center with DWDM technology, so we are well positioned and ready for growth.”

Armendariz added, “There have been a number of other fiber builds going on around the region and it is beginning to look like North Platte is becoming a hub for activity between the east and west portions of the state. We saw this as an opportunity to strategically position our customers at the center of that traffic and establish a hub for carrier and enterprise collocation.”

In addition to ten gigabit connections and Dense Wave Division Multiplex (DWDM) capabilities, the facility is designed to Uptime Institute tier III standards. The construction of the facility required the cooperation of all divisions of the Pinpoint organization ranging from engineering to finance. The building and connections were completed in a period of four months.

Pinpoint Holdings Chief Operations Officer Chris Karn commented, “This is a major step forward for Pinpoint. It takes the company to a new level of operations while increasing communications across the state of Nebraska, and beyond.  We are pleased to be able to offer this state-of-the-art facility to other carriers and enterprise customers.”  Karn continued, “This facility could not have been built without the tremendous efforts of a highly skilled Pinpoint team.  In addition, the support and level of expertise from the North Platte community was second to none, and went a long way to get this project done on time, and built right.”
