Canada’s , the largest Canadian telco TV service provider, is expanding their IPTV portfolio with a new residential home gateway solution. MTS has San Jose-based 2Wire’s , a VDSL2 IPTV gateway platform, for an ‘expanded range of IPTV and broadband services.’

MTS operates throughout Canada under the Allstream and MTS brands. Its consumer markets division provides a suite of wireless, high-speed Internet and data, digital television and wired voice services. MTS is looking to “intelligent” gateways to deliver television, Internet, phone, home security and automation services to customers via one platform. “Our residential customers expect advanced broadband and TV services to be delivered reliably and seamlessly,” said Kelvin Shepherd, president, consumer markets division, MTS Allstream in a 2Wire statement. MTS Allstream has begun rolling out the new platform in Portage la Prairie and plans to expand that to include Winnipeg and Brandon in 2009.
