MobileX, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that operates on Verizon’s network, announced the upcoming availability of its Gold Network, which includes three options customers can choose from to have higher priority connections.
The network was designed to enable customers to have faster speeds and lower latency, particularly in areas and times of heavy network traffic.
Once the Gold Network becomes available, current customers will be able to access them via the MobileX app.
Starting October 18, customers can select:
- Gold On Demand: The MobileX Gold Network access will be available at any time for $2.10 per gigabyte, while regular high-speed data will be $1.90 per gigabyte (reduced from $2.10 per gigabyte)
- Gold Unlimited 10: 10 gigabytes of priority high-speed data for $19.88 per month
- Gold Unlimited 30: 30 gigabytes of priority high-speed data for $29.88 per month
- Gold Build Your Own: Customized plans starting at $4.08 per month for MobileX Gold Network access and $3.88 per month (reduced from $4.08/month) for regular high-speed data
“For too long, carriers have dictated how customers access performance on their networks,” said MobileX CEO and Founder Peter Adderton in the Gold Network announcement. “With the Gold Network, we are putting that choice back in the customer’s hands. They can instantly upgrade to priority access when they want it or simply rely on our regular high-speed data for all other times.”
In a similar example of creative pricing, SmartLess Mobile recently launched “The Perfect Ten,” a promotional wireless plan that offers consumers 10 gigabytes of high-speed data for just $10 per month, including unlimited talk and text messaging.
The plan represents one of the most affordable wireless offerings in the U.S. and delivers significant savings for subscribers who are routinely encouraged by traditional carriers to overpay for data they don’t actually use.
