T-Mobile’s prepaid Mint Mobile service has unveiled the “Unf*! Your Bills” bundle that features a year of 5G-based home internet and unlimited wireless for $45 per month.
The Mint Mobile plan is the second plan announced in the past two weeks that aims to simplify choices for those with both mobile and internet access. The other was introduced by AT&T, though AT&T’s offer includes fiber rather than fixed wireless access.
The offer requires upfront payment of $540 (equivalent to $45 per month) for 12-month plans. Auto-renewal is also required, with an additional upfront payment of $180 for a second unlimited phone line. Taxes and fees are extra.
Mint Mobile’s uniquely named service includes:
- Unlimited wireless on T-Mobile’s 5G network
- 5G home internet
- $45 per month total (with the upfront annual payment)
- No extra equipment fees
- No technician or appointments required
- A five-year price lock
“Big Cable has had a pretty good run charging people whatever they want and calling it a promotion,” Scott Venuti, the general manager of Mint Mobile’s Home MINTernet, said in a press release about the wireless/home internet deal. “We figured it was time to offer something radically different, like one clear price that doesn’t slowly morph into something horrifying.”
AT&T’s similar offer was introduced in late March. Their OneConnect plan combines the carrier’s wireless service and its 1 Gig fiber network. It also combines billing for the services. During the signup, which AT&T claimed takes only five minutes, customers choose between three plans. All the offerings include 1 Gig home Internet.
The AT&T plan is $90 for an individual, which offers one person a single wireless line and serves as many as four devices. That makes it about twice as expensive as the Mint Mobile plan, though as noted above AT&T offers fiber internet versus fixed wireless for Mint Mobile.
