Grand Rapids, Michigan — January 24, 2024 — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Metronet today announced that Grand Rapids’ residents and businesses located in initial construction areas have access to Metronet’s 100% fiber optic internet. Residents in South Central Grand Rapids and Southwestern Grand Rapids are officially eligible for service installations, with many more expected to be connected to ultra-high-speed fiber optic internet as the construction process continues. As Metronet’s service becomes available to more homes throughout the city, residents will have access to multi-gigabit speeds up to 2 gigabits; and businesses may access speeds up to 10 gigabits.
With access to 100% fiber optic internet, customers will experience ultra-high-speed service that connects directly to their home or business, bringing symmetrical upload and download speeds right to your device, free of buffering. Customers located in Metronet’s initial construction areas may now sign up for service installation online at metronet.com.
“As we begin to connect our first Metronet customers in Grand Rapids to our infrastructure, we eagerly await the life-changing impact of access to our state-of-the-art, fast and reliable service on the community,” said Ben Ruzick, Governmental Affairs Director at Metronet. “With access to our service, the City of Grand Rapids is backed by a network that will support the continued economic growth, community development, and widespread resident and business success. We strive to be an internet provider that you can not only rely on to power your home but also to empower every area of your life. We are thrilled to officially offer our 100% fiber optic service to Grand Rapids homes and businesses as we provide the community with a choice of providers and the opportunity to love your internet.”
Grand Rapids residents will continue to see Metronet trucks throughout the area as construction activities expand throughout the community. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to starting. Additional messaging, such as yard signs, will also be provided to notify residents when construction is beginning in their neighborhood. Metronet crews are identified by ID tags and branded Metronet vehicles.
Metronet plans to hire local market management positions, sales and customer service professionals and service technicians to support the Grand Rapids area. Those interested in joining the Metronet team can visit metronet.com/careers to search for available positions and to submit applications.
