MASSILLON, Ohio (May 8, 2020) – MCTV, a leading Internet, cable TV and Phone provider across several counties in Northeastern Ohio signed an agreement to acquire Centre TV Cable and Powhatan Point Cable. With this acquisition, MCTV has expanded its service area further into southeastern Ohio and West Virginia.
MCTV currently offers residential and business services to more than 52,000 homes and businesses across its service areas.
“The future is extremely bright,” states Katherine Gessner, president of MCTV. “Centre TV Cable and Powhatan Point Cable have been dedicated to serving their communities for almost 55 years. They share our same small town values of community, collaboration and excellence. We are excited and honored to continue the tradition and grow our footprint and presence in Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia, as well as welcoming more of the community and residents to our MCTV family.”
Centre TV Cable and Powhatan Point Cable were founded by Kasmir (Kaz) Majewski in 1965 and 1966, respectively. Centre TV Cable serves neighborhoods and communities in northern Wheeling, WV while Powhatan Point Cable serves customers in the Powhatan Point and Colerain township areas of Belmont County.
“In the 1950s and 60s, men and women like Kaz were building cable systems in small towns across America. While the technology seems simple by today’s standards, this was a huge undertaking,” Gessner stated. “The robust telecommunications infrastructure many small American towns have today is thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of people like Kaz. We are honored to continue – and build upon – his legacy.”
Founded in 1965 in Massillon, Ohio, MCTV primarily serves communities in Stark and Wayne counties. Since 2018, MCTV has acquired systems serving five communities across Ohio, including the recent acquisition of Bellaire Cable TV. These recent acquisitions align with and demonstrate MCTV’s mission of strengthening communities by providing improved Internet and cable TV services for the areas we serve.
“As we continue to grow, our top priorities remain providing reliable, high-tech telecommunications services and providing an outstanding customer experience to our customers,” explains Gessner. “We are dedicated to and recognize our responsibility to the customers and communities we serve and we will continue to ensure that we are the kind of company that communities are proud to call their neighbor.”
MCTV plans to complete the transition and become the new Internet and cable TV provider effective June 1, 2020. Improvements to the system are planned for the coming months, including improving Internet reliability.
Customers will receive communication in the coming weeks regarding the transition. For more information about MCTV and this transition, visit www.MCTVOhio.com.
