Matanuska Telephone Turns to ADTRAN for Stimulus Project

ADTRAN(R), Inc., (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Matanuska Telephone Association, a leading provider of communications services for south-central Alaska, has selected ADTRAN’s extensive portfolio of broadband solutions for voice, high-speed data, IPTV and Carrier Ethernet services throughout its coverage region.

ADTRAN’s Total Access(R) 5000 next-generation access and transport platform offers unmatched flexibility. With this solution, service providers can now offer new, next-generation triple-play services while addressing a variety of existing customer needs from a common solution. In addition, the flexibility of the Total Access 5000 enables service providers to quickly and continuously reinvent their access and transport networks to serve a wide variety of business, residential and mobile customers.

“As a service provider in a very competitive market, the ability to add new and advanced services easily can be the difference between growing our business or handing it over to the competition,” said Eric Anderson, vice president of engineering and planning, Matanuska Telephone Association. “As with many service providers, our network had several vendors’ equipment installed; supporting different applications. ADTRAN is allowing us to transition to a single platform for all access needs, which saves capital as well as operational expenses.”

“Matanuska Telephone has been a great customer for ADTRAN. The initial deployments were focused on the delivery of voice, high-speed data and IPTV services, followed soon thereafter by FTTP for delivery of high-bandwidth services for schools and residential customers,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “Our solution offers Matanuska Telephone the ability to support both existing legacy and next-generation services from a single platform, allowing it to address its customers’ needs today and position the network for future growth.”
