Lightcurve announces Digital Equity Partnership program

Lightcurve is now accepting applications for its Digital Equity Partnership program, developed in partnership with the City of Tacoma, Washington.

The program works with public, private, and nonprofit organizations that provide critical services or broadband access to underserved members of the community. Selected recipients will receive 12 months of complimentary internet service with speeds up to 1 Gbps.

Applications for the Lightcurve Digital Equity Partnership program can be made until the end of May.

The review process will go through the end of that month. Among the factors applications will be evaluated on include:

  • Alignment with community equity index goals
  • Overall benefit to the community

Among other considerations for applicants:

  • Selected organizations must sign a contract for the one-year service period.
  • At the conclusion of the complimentary term, services will convert to the current retail rate unless canceled
  • Current recipients may reapply each year and will be evaluated alongside all applicants
  • By applying, organizations confirm they are authorized to enter into a service agreement and accept responsibility for managing service at the end of the program term
  • Recipient organizations will be publicly announced each year

Applicants for the Lightcurve Digital Equity Partnership program will learn their status by the end of May, with installation to take place within 30 days.

“The Digital Equity Partnership reflects our commitment to ensuring everyone has access to the connectivity they need to thrive,” Beth Barnes, Lightcurve senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in a prepared statement. “By working alongside the City of Tacoma and local organizations, we’re helping create more equitable access to essential digital resources.”

Lightcurve is the former Ranier Connect. The company changed its name following the acquisition of its parent company, Mashell, Inc., by investment firm Palisade Infrastructure in 2023.
