Ninety-three addresses in 19 counties will gain access to broadband in the 12th round of the Indiana Connectivity Program.
The funding award of $378,578 will be matched by internet service provider (ISP) contributions of $276,869, for a total investment of $655,447. It will be used by 88 households and five businesses.
“Congratulations to the residents and business owners taking advantage of this important program,” OCRA Executive Director Duke Bennett said in the announcement. “Connecting Hoosiers with each other throughout the state and with those around the world is paramount in making progress in Indiana.”
The broadband awards were made to eight organizations by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
The awards announced yesterday are as follows:
- Airwave Networks, LLC (four addresses, $19,200)
- Auburn Essential Services (one address, $4,800)
- Joink Inc. (13 addresses, $50,942)
- Mainstream Fiber Networks (11 addresses, $17,625)
- Mulberry Telecommunications (26 addresses, $122,600)
- On-Ramp Indiana, Inc. (one address, $4,800)
- PSC Fiber (26 addresses, $105,811)
- SEI Communications (11 addresses $52,800)
Broadband awards for the Indiana Connectivity Program are made on a rolling basis. No information was provided in the announcement about whether Indiana received federal funding for these awards.
The 11th round of awards was made last October. That round consisted of $1.5 million to expand broadband to 326 addresses across 34 counties. The support will bring broadband to 310 homes and 16 businesses in Indiana. Providers contributed $5,286,195 for a total investment of $6,775,515. Surf Internet was the big winner, with $998,400 for 208 addresses.
