Independents Fiber Network Finalizes Purchase of Smart Connect Fiber Assets in Southwest Ohio

Wapakoneta, Ohio – Independents Fiber Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNI (“CNI_Independents”), announced today that it has finalized the purchase of Smart Connect Fiber Incorporated’s fiber assets in southwest Ohio.   This asset acquisition increases Independents Fiber Network’s route miles by 205 miles and adds 3412 fiber miles.

The assets, located primarily in Butler and Warren counties, also include assets extending into Montgomery, Hamilton, and Clinton Counties.

“This acquisition will allow us to continue to grow our Regional Network Services business and further our commitment to bring high-speed, fiber-based services to urban and rural areas throughout our regional footprint”, commented Tim Berelsman CEO of Independents Fiber Network.  Berelsman adds, “It has been a pleasure working with Irshad Ansari and the SCFI team in working through this asset acquisition”.

This addition brings the owned and leased fiber assets under Independents Fiber Network’s management to over 2300 route miles consisting of 100,000 fiber miles spanning west central Ohio, southeast Michigan, and eastern Indiana with extended 100Gbps connectivity to Chicago.
