In a deal between Iowa-based providers, ImOn Communications is acquiring Danville Telecom.
Danville, which traces its roots to 1901, serves Henry, Des Moines, and Lee counties. The company provides all-fiber networks to residential and business customers in Danville and Wever. Its iConnectYou business services offer solutions to companies in Burlington, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Montrose, and West Burlington.
Earlier this year, ImOn said it would deploy infrastructure in five communities in the southeast region of the state. The ImOn acquisition of Danville Telecom’s fiber assets will enable it to more rapidly bring service to homes and businesses in Burlington, Fort Madison, and Keokuk.
“ImOn and Danville Telecom share a common mission — to deliver exceptional network performance and customer service while supporting the communities where we live and work,” ImOn President and CEO Patrice Carroll said in a press release.
The press release had no information about the value of the ImOn Communications and Danville Telecom deal or any other details. It is expected to close this year.
In February, 2022, ImOn said that Goldman Sachs Asset Management, the infrastructure investment arm of Goldman Sachs, had agreed to acquire the company. The press release said that Goldman Sachs Asset Management would make investments in its fiber, video, and voice services as part of the transaction.
At the time, ImOn owned and operated a 2,000-mile network that reached over 60,000 households and businesses in Iowa markets including Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Iowa City and Dubuque.
In 2023 — two years before the Danville Telecom deal — ImOn acquired FiberComm, a company that serves the western region of Iowa. The deal closed in April. It was the first move by ImOn outside the eastern area of the state.
