Press Release

SMITHSON VALLEY, July 31, 2014 — GVTC is bringing more fiber to more people. The Hill Country based communications provider is expanding its fiber network to 15 subdivisions in its service area. When complete in summer 2015, an additional 3,300 rooftops, in proximity to San Antonio, will have access to a GVTC fiber to the home connection.

The first subdivision scheduled for the fiber upgrade is River Crossing, located less than 30 miles north of San Antonio, at Highway 281 and Highway 46. The project is projected for completion this September. GVTC is making fiber optics available to over 650 homes in that community.

All subdivisions upgraded to the fiber network will be part of the GVTC GigaRegion™ that will make 1 gigabit Internet connections available in September 2014. These new fiber network customers will also be eligible to bundle high-speed broadband with cable TV, interactive security monitoring and phone, at very competitive prices.

In 2013, GVTC completed a $35 million dollar project that upgraded more than 21,000 rooftops with a fiber network connection, across two-thirds of its service area.
