Google’s new version 2.2 Android operating system will enable a number of new features, such as enabling both Flash video content as well as HTML5, so developers will not have to make a choice between the two formats. Device tethering (allwoing the mobile to function as a broadband modem) also is included, so service providers will have to decide how to provide access to that feature.
A new “iTunes”-like music capability also is new, as are a number of ways content syncing can be better automated. Google also apparently plans to make the technology it acquired from Global IP Solutions open source, further enhancing applications integrating video, conferencing and voice.
