Update: GFiber Expands Multi-Gig Home Services to Two More States

UPDATE, May 13: GFiber announced yesterday that it will roll out its multi-gig services to two more states: Kansas and Missouri. This is the second such update this month, as GFiber rolls out the multi-gig offerings to more and more states.

The company’s “lifestyle-based” multi-gig plans are now available in twelve states: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

PREVIOUS UPDATE, May 5: GFiber announced today that it will roll out its multi-gig services to four more states: Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas. This further expands their “lifestyle-based” services, which were made available to Utah and Idaho in April, and to Alabama, Arizona, North Carolina, and Tennessee in January.

GFiber has expanded the states in which its “lifestyle-based” multi-gig services are available for the second time.

In January, GFiber expanded from its initial pilots in Tennessee and Alabama to Arizona and North Carolina. This week, the company expanded to Utah and Idaho as well.

The company says that the features depending on tier include “tailored” wired connections, an app that keeps “score” to help maximize performance, an advanced router, WiFi 6E, battery backup for power outages, and an uptime guarantee.

Other locations will be announced during the next month, according to the announcement

GFiber is offering three tiers of multi-gig service:

Core 1 Gig ($70 per month)

  • Symmetrical 1 Gbps service
  • GFiber Wi-Fi 6E router with one mesh extender
  • Free self or professional installation with custom setup and performance verification

Home 3 Gig ($100 per month)

  • Symmetrical 3 Gbps service
  • GFiber Multi-Gig Wi-Fi 6E Router with up to two mesh extenders
  • Multi -gig speed over Wi-Fi with up to 5,000 square feet of coverage
  • Free pro install with custom setup and performance verification
  • Whole home internet, with priority room optimization
  • Optional add-ons: Internet battery backup and home phone

Edge 8 Gig ($150 per month)

  • Symmetrical 8 Gbps service
  • GFiber Multi-Gig Wi-Fi 6E router, with up to two mesh extenders
  • Multi-gig speed over Wi-Fi with up to 5,000 square feet of coverage
  • Free pro install with custom setup and performance verification
  • Whole home internet, with priority room optimization
  • Internet Battery Backup in case of power loss
  • 99.9%-plus uptime money back guarantee 
  • Optional add-on: home phone

When it announced the multi-gig expansion to Arizona and North Carolina in January, GFiber — which is the branding name of Google Fiber — said that Home 3 Gig is designed for homes with multiple people simultaneously working or gaming. It said Edge 8 Gig offers connectivity at less than two cents per Mbps, which GFiber claimed is a market-best rate.
