Frontier Secure Computer Security Pro and Mobile Security Pro, announced today by Frontier Communications, are two more examples of a couple of opportunities that are key focus areas for the company. The company has been expanding its security offerings through partnerships such as the one with F-Secure that underlies Frontier Secure Computer Security Pro and Mobile Security Pro. And as with some other recent Frontier launches, the offerings will be available nationwide, enabling the company to tap customers beyond its traditional local service territory.
In an interview Frontier Secure Director of Programs Brent Heilman said the company will be more aggressive on nationwide marketing of the new offerings beginning in July. “We will have more Web presence and [begin] serious pushing out of territory” on this and other products the company offers nationwide, he said.
Small and medium size businesses are the target market for Frontier’s new offerings, which are designed to protect computers and mobile devices from cyber threats. Frontier Secure Computer Security Pro works with PCs and Macs, while Mobile Security Pro works with Android OS-based mobile devices.
Capabilities of Frontier Secure Computer Security Pro include:
- Virus and spy protection
- Firewall and application control to help prevent intrusion from hackers
- Spam control
- A cloud-based management portal for real-time monitoring and troubleshooting of protected devices
- Support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8,1 and Mac OS X operating systems
Mobile Security Pro includes anti-virus, anti-malware, remote wipe and anti-theft features.
As Heilman explained, software will have to be installed on individual devices to use the F-Secure offering but updates will be made throughthe cloud, which also will support the administrative console capability.
Other companies that have partnered with Frontier on the company’s Frontier Secure product suite include Kroll Advisory Solutions and Asurion, Frontier CEO Maggie Wilderotter has said that Frontier’s 24/7 Premiere Tech Support is its “secret sauce” in the information security market and that the company’s employees are “experts in supporting other peoples’ software.” The company last year won a major contract to provide tech support for Intuit.
