Stealing a page from social media, local content, and the appeal of local high school sports, telecompetitor Frontier Communications is going local with the launch of Game On!, which will distribute original videos of local high school football across 14 states.

Joining with niche high school sports news service MaxPreps.com, Game On! will distribute condensed, 7-10 minute versions of games in select Frontier markets. The first Game On! videos will be created today for the games between Rutledge and Carter high schools in Rutledge, Tenn. and Columbus and Kearney high schools in Columbus, Nebraska.

Frontier employees will be at games “to cheer on their children and local teams and distribute prizes for football fans, according to the press release. “We are thrilled to bring this program to our communities,” said David Asch, senior vice president of Internet and Video.

All told, Game On! videos will be available in Alabama, Arizona, California, Idaho, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia.

High school  football is a real passion in the communities we serve. ‘Game On!’ is a great way to be a part of the excitement at these local  events and let fans and faraway friends and family watch key match ups online. It’s a program where everyone wins.”

The social media aspect of Game On! entails fans being able to share their experiences by uploading game videos to Frontier’s Game On! YouTube channel. In addition to being featured on YouTube they will be rotated on Frontier’s OTT video channel at www.myfitv.com.
