Fintech MAJORITY Introduces Mobile Plans On AT&T’s Network

MAJORITY, a financial technology (fintech) company, is expanding into the broadband industry by offering no-commitment mobile plans.

The plans are being integrated into the MAJORITY app, and will enable users to call, text, and stay connected via the AT&T network.

According to the company, MAJORITY is the first major U.S. neobank to offer fully integrated phone plans, though the technology behind the plans is from Gigs, an operating system for mobile services.

The MAJORITY phone plans — offering unlimited 5G data, talk, and text — will be available for the base price of $40 per month. Basic plans, with usage caps, are available for $25 a month. Subscribers can adjust their plans or cancel at any time.

“Mobile access isn’t a luxury — it’s a basic need. For globally mobile users, it’s the difference between isolation and opportunity,” Magnus Larsson, MAJORITY CEO and founder, said in a prepared statement.

“By integrating phone plans directly into the MAJORITY platform, we’re not just offering convenience, we’re providing easy, fast and frictionless access to connectivity at a time when people need it most. With this launch, we continue to build a platform for global success, not just financial services.”

The collaboration with MAJORITY is another example of how AT&T is partnering with other enterprises to expand on the use of its network.

In late April, Helium Network, which offers a Wi-Fi network driven by hotspots deployed by individuals and businesses, entered into a collaboration with AT&T under which the network will be offered to the carrier’s subscribers.

The announcement of the partnership says that AT&T will gain access to real-time coverage quality metrics that were developed by Helium.

The collaboration facilitates Wi-Fi authentication via Passpoint, which incorporates “a decentralized infrastructure alongside traditional networks” that leverages Helium’s coverage and quality metrics that make user experience data visible, transparent and actionable, the press release says.
