Press Release

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — MobileIron (NASDAQ: MOBL), the leader in enterprise mobility management (EMM), announced today that the AT&T Work Platform is now available to MobileIron customers. The AT&T Work Platform lets business customers add AT&T data, voice, and messaging services to their employees’ personally-owned devices and keep personal service charges separate from corporate charges. This invoicing separation can help businesses overcome some of the administrative challenges to adopting Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs.

“We’re changing the way businesses buy mobility today by extending access to AT&T data, voice and messaging services,” said Sundhar Annamalai, executive director, Advance Mobility Solutions, AT&T. “It’s increasingly important to provide rate plans that satisfy both the needs of the enterprise and their employees. The AT&T Work Platform combined with MobileIron makes it easy for businesses of any size to say ‘yes’ to BYOD.”

The platform allows companies to shift from a stipend reimbursement to a data plan allowance that reflects anticipated business usage. The AT&T Work Platform lets employees separate business and personal voice calls by making work-related phone calls over the platform rather than the employee’s wireless carrier.

Recent California Case Law
In 2014, the California Court of Appeals ruled that an employer must reimburse a “reasonable” portion of a California employee’s personal cell phone bill if the employer requires the employee to use his or her personal cell phone for work purposes.  However, the court did not provide clear guidance on what constitutes a “reasonable portion.” This has left many BYOD employers uncertain as to how to comply with the court’s ruling.  By enabling the identification and separation of work usage from personal usage, AT&T Work offers one approach to resolving this uncertainty.

“We are proud that AT&T chose to work with MobileIron for the launch of the AT&T Work Platform,” said Bob Tinker, CEO, MobileIron. “MobileIron and AT&T have had a long and successful relationship bringing industry-leading innovation to customers who want to use mobile technology to transform their businesses.”
