DirecTV is suing Comcast for “deceptive advertising” based on Comcast’s latest marketing campaign. The campaign says that Comcast HD is preferred by customers when compared to satellite HD. DirecTV tends to disagree with that assertion and claims Comcast’s research methods were flawed, and the results are false. DirecTV is suing for the stoppage of the marketing campaign, a retraction by Comcast of the ad’s message, and monetary damages. As the competitive landscape continues to heat up, I suspect we will see more and more of these types of battles.
