WARNER, OK., Dec. 2, 2010 / — Cross Telephone today announced that it has entered into an agreement  with Verizon Wireless to participate in the LTE in Rural America program.  Under the LTE in Rural America program, Cross will deploy and operate a state of the art 4G LTE network which will provide greater telecommunications capabilities and choices for the residents of eastern and south- eastern Oklahoma.

V. David Miller, President of Cross, said, “We have a great understanding of our community’s needs.   The LTE in Rural America program ensures that we will be able to efficiently serve our community by offering the benefits and the blazing fast speed of 4G wireless broadband to rural Oklahoma.   We are proud to be able to offer our customers the same state of the art LTE network capabilities that are being deployed in larger urban markets in the United States and around the world.”

“Cross is a leading provider of communications in the communities they serve and is precisely the kind of company that we want to partner with in the LTE in Rural America program.  We are looking forward to working with Cross to ensure that the people of eastern and southeastern Oklahoma will be able to benefit from 4G LTE service,” said Molly Feldman, VP of Business Development for Verizon Wireless.

Under the agreement, Verizon Wireless will lease to Cross its 700 MHz upper C block wireless spectrum in the Cross Wireless service areas where Verizon Wireless has not constructed a network. Using the leased spectrum, Cross will construct and operate a 4G LTE network in eastern and south- eastern Oklahoma serving Cross customers, Verizon Wireless customers and customers of other LTE in Rural America participants.  In addition, Cross customers will have access to Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network throughout the United States.

Miller said, “This program accelerates the benefits of new wireless technology for our customers and our communities. The LTE in Rural America program helps extend the reach and capabilities of Cross and ensures that we are able to address the future needs of our customers in communities that have historically not been the first to benefit from technologies such as 4G LTE. ”
