Comcast’s Xfinity has launched a website for customers to search for, buy, and manage streaming apps, channels, and networks.
Named SteamStore, the website is designed to give customers more choice, value, and control. The Xfinity store offers more than 450 streaming apps and channels — and 200,000 movies and TV shows — to rent or purchase.
According to Xfinity, StreamStore is designed to enable customers to:
- Find something new to stream with a curated experience that makes it simpler.
- Shop, buy, and manage streaming apps and channels directly on the television and in a single monthly bill.
- Bundle and save with exclusive streaming packages like StreamSaver — a bundle of Apple TV+, Netflix standard with ads, and Peacock — for $15.
“We believe that technology should work for you — not the other way around,” Jon Gieselman, Comcast’s chief growth officer, connectivity and platforms, said in a prepared statement about the Xfinity streaming service.
“Xfinity StreamStore is taking the complexity out of finding the content you love and putting the power back in the hands of our customers. It’s an important advancement in harnessing tech to make the complicated easy and entertainment smarter, simpler, and more connected.”
The StreamStore for convenient streaming options is the second major recent effort Comcast has made to keep Xfinity customers from churning. The other was price locks, launched last month. Xfinity says simplicity and predictability is behind its introduction of four tiers of plans with one- and five-year monthly price locks.
Each tier of plans includes unlimited data and the Xfinity WiFi Gateway for a single monthly price. Xfinity Mobile will be included for free for a year.
The four tiers of plans are:
- 300 Mbps: $40 per month for one year and $55 per month for five years. The price for those not taking either option is $70 per month.
- 500 Mbps: $55 per month and $70 per month for five years. The price for those not taking either potion is $85 per month.
- 1 Gbps: $70 per month for one year and $85 per month for five years. The price for those not taking any option is $100 per month.
- 2 Gbps: $100 per month for one year and $115 per month for five years. The price for those not taking either option is $130 per month.
