Comcast announced the introduction of the Xfinity Stream mobile app, the successor to the Xfinity TV mobile app, coming later this month. The app is designed to provide Xfinity subscribers a mobile version of Comcast’s in-home “big screen” Xfinity X1 service to those both inside and outside the home at no extra cost.
The new app helps unify a current multiple app strategy for TV Everywhere applications for Comcast Xfinity pay-TV services.
“We’re focused on creating the best entertainment experiences across platforms and continuing to give Xfinity TV customers more choice in how, when and where they access their content,” said Matt Strauss, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Video and Entertainment Services at Comcast Cable.
“With the Xfinity Stream app, we are giving customers access to the best content in and out of the home with a growing list of advanced features and capabilities that make the mobile experience nearly identical to the cable experience they enjoy at home.”
Xfinity Stream Mobile App
Android and iOS mobile device users will be able to download Xfinity Stream on Feb. 28. Xfinity subscribers who are using the latest version of the Xfinity TV app will receive an automatic update and upgrade to the new mobile pay-TV app.

Xfinity Stream comes with a Spanish language guide, music channels, and Common Sense media ratings, Comcast highlights in a news release.
While in the home, Xfinity subscribers will be able to access virtually their full channel line-up (with some minor exceptions) on mobile devices, through the Stream mobile app. Outside of the home, content rights will dictate which channels are available on mobile devices, with a smaller channel line-up availability.
