Comcast and Spectrum Enterprise are fastest-growing U.S. cable MSO firms in terms of ethernet presence, with Cox and Altice USA also making significant gains, according to the Vertical Systems Group’s latest Leaderboard report.
The Leaderboard bases rankings on share calculations based on Vertical Systems Group’s base of enterprise installations, plus direct input from biannual surveys of network operators selling Ethernet network services.
Cable MSO is one of three U.S. provider segments included in the Leaderboard rankings, with also rates incumbent carrier and competitive provider segments. The Leaderboard defines Cable MSOs selling Ethernet services as having business-oriented entities that operate independently from residential cable organizations.
To qualify for the 2018 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard, companies need to have a top rank, as did Spectrum Enterprise and Comcast or a Challenge Tier citation, as did Cox and Altice, on the 2018 U.S. Carrier Ethernet Leaderboard.
Vertical Systems Group further reported that Comcast and Spectrum Enterprise had the highest Ethernet port growth during 2018 as fiber footprint expansion drives the growth of the U.S. Ethernet port base. Spectrum Enterprise is the top Cable MSO on the U.S. Fiber Lit Buildings Leaderboard, followed in rank order by Comcast, Cox and Altice USA.
Other companies in the Cable MSO Leaderboard segment include, in alphabetical order: Armstrong Business Solutions, Atlantic Broadband, BendBroadband Business, Cable One Business, MediaCom, Midco, RCN Business, WOW!Business and other cable companies selling retail U.S. Ethernet services.
