Philadelphia, Pennsylvania– September 15, 2015 — Comcast today announced that it will add a new set of third party devices to its Xfinity Home business, taking another step towards giving consumers one platform that connects all their smart home needs. Chamberlain MyQ and NETGEAR® Arlo™ will soon join a growing list of experiences that can be managed and controlled on the Xfinity Home platform.
Consumer adoption of connected devices is on the rise, with 69 percent of consumers planning to buy an in-home device by 2019. Additionally, according to Gartner, the number of connected “things” will reach over 13 billion by 2020.
“While there are more connected devices available than ever, consumers continue to struggle with the best way to make them work together,” said Dan Herscovici, SVP and General Manager, Xfinity Home. “We’re going to aggregate the best home automation and security features and bring them together in one common, easy-to-use and seamless experience. We’re excited to partner with best-in-class manufactures like Chamberlain and NETGEAR and look forward to adding them to our Xfinity Home platform.”
With Chamberlain’s MyQ, Comcast customers will be able to monitor and control their garage door from virtually anywhere with their Xfinity Home smartphone app. The same will be true with Netgear’s Arlo, a completely wire-free camera that can easily be mounted anywhere both inside and outside the home, that allows customers to record and view live HD video during the day and at night.
Comcast expects MyQ to be integrated later this month and Arlo by early next year.

Xfinity Home is a cloud and broadband-based platform that provides next-generation home security, home automation and the foundation for a ‘smart home’. The service also includes a battery back-up in the event of a power failure and cellular back-up in the event of a network interruption.
