Clearwire Successfully Tests Mobile WiMAX

[img_assist|nid=118|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=91|height=26]Clearwire has announced a successful trial of mobile WiMAX, based o the 802.16e standard. The field trial covered 15 square miles in Hillsboro, a suburb of Portland, OR. Both Intel and Motorola participated in the trial. Clearwire claims successful transmission of multi-megabit broadband speeds to a wireless laptop card. This announcement should be one of many WiMAX announcements over the next 12 months, as WiMAX begins its ascension to a viable competitive third broadband pipe into the home and beyond.
