A CenturyLink managed hybrid SD-WAN service hit the market yesterday. As the company explained, the offering delivers comprehensive WAN packages “as a service” for a fixed monthly price.
The availability of the CenturyLink Managed Hybrid SD-WAN solutions holds out prospects of tighter integration of high-capacity network infrastructure and customer premises equipment, along with optimization of network traffic flows across both broadband Internet connections and MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) networks, the company highlights.

Automatically aware of the applications that are running across networks, the managed hybrid SD-WAN service solutions identify the most efficient and reliable end-to-end path to transport data based on application requirements and network latency, CenturyLink elaborated. The result is the best possible network performance regardless of where applications are housed, be it on-premises or in the cloud, the company said.
“Businesses are looking to evolve their networks to better support their mission-critical business and cloud initiatives,” vice president of product management Troy Trenchard was quoted.
“Our Managed Hybrid SD-WAN solutions enable businesses to leverage their existing investments in MPLS while adding next-generation network capabilities. By using these new offerings, businesses can deliver high application performance and security across the WAN, especially for cloud-hosted apps.”
Part and parcel of its new Managed Hybrid SD-WAN service solutions, CenturyLink provides core infrastructure, design and implementation, security, transport and provider management as well as centralized monitoring and management. Built-in encryption and network segmentation feature among the hybrid SD-WAN managed service solutions’ security aspects. A central portal secures network traffic, making use of built-in encryption, network segmentation and security policy control in doing so, CenturyLink said.
