centurylinkCenturyLink today said that it has launched CenturyLink Engage, a voice and communications platform that offers more than 80 features, including advanced call routing, audio, video, instant messaging, file sharing collaboration and access to call centers.

CenturyLink, like other telcos, is shoring up its SMB and enterprise product suites to better combat rising competition from the cable industry. For example, CenturyLink launched CenturyLink SIMPLE for Business in 2018, later expanding it in 2019, featuring bundled internet and business phone packages.

With this new offer, CenturyLink is including a bring-your-own-internet strategy, allowing businesses to get a fairly robust unified communications platform through another providers internet service.

CenturyLink Engage also includes:

  • A softphone app for PC, tablet and smartphones. IP phones are optional, and customers can bring their own compatible phones.
  • An optional online directory listing, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) integration and other add-on tools.
  • An option for a business customer to bring its own internet or bundle with CenturyLink internet, optimized to deliver cloud and real-time communications applications and services.
  • A satisfaction program that enables businesses to terminate service at any time with no early termination fees, regardless of agreement type.

“CenturyLink’s new Engage service allows customers to bring their own Internet, but also offers the option to optimize performance by using the service over the CenturyLink network,” said Amy Lind, IDC research manager, in a prepared statement. “CenturyLink also allows users to mix and match the connectivity, which can be advantageous for customers with multiple locations in different cities.”
