Press Release

April 15, 2015 — LA CROSSE, Wis. – CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) today announced that symmetrical broadband speeds up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) are now available to residential and small business customers in select locations in La Crosse through its ultra-fast fiber optic network.

CenturyLink is using fiber-to-the-premises technology to provide access to some of the fastest upload and download Internet speeds currently available in the U.S. Speeds up to 1 Gbps, equivalent to 1,000 Mbps, allow users to stream high-definition video content with little to no delays and download movies, songs and TV shows in seconds. Customers who have multiple devices connected to one Internet connection in the home will have more than enough capacity and speed to support other uses of broadband such as online gaming, home automation, and increasingly important cloud services. Gigabit speeds will help small businesses increase productivity and efficiency while working in the cloud, sharing multimedia files, streaming video content and backing-up data in real-time. In addition, CenturyLink’s 1 Gbps service offers symmetrical speeds allowing customers to upload information as fast as they download it.

“CenturyLink is excited to announce we’ve selected La Crosse as part of our deployment of the CenturyLink 1 gig fiber network,” said Bob Brown, CenturyLink operations vice president for Wisconsin. “We continue to innovate and invest as a company to offer services that help make our city a better place to live and work.”

“In an age where technology is a big part of our daily lives, it’s exciting to know our community will have the fastest Internet speeds in the country,” said Jim Hill, La Crosse Area Development Corporation. “We hope this investment by CenturyLink helps connect families and businesses, and creates new innovation in our community.”

Residential customers can purchase 1 Gbps service for a monthly recurring charge of $79.95 with a 12-month term commitment and when bundled with additional, qualifying CenturyLink services, including Prism™ TV. In addition to speeds up to 1 Gbps, some customers may be eligible for speeds up to 40 and 100 Mbps. Customers should contact CenturyLink to see what speeds are available to them. They can also go to www.centurylink.com/gigabit to find out if broadband speeds up to 1 Gbps are available in their area.

CenturyLink offers gigabit service in Platteville, Wis. as well as in 16 additional cities across the country.
