The announcement means California has awarded more than $1 billion in broadband grants to 52 counties in the state.

The California last-mile update provided further details about a $48 million award that was announced on January 30.

The California broadband grants announced yesterday come on the heels of two other recent funding announcements.

$25 million of the California broadband funding will go to Federal Funding Account grants for last-mile services in Kings County.

About 163,000 residents will benefit from the California awards, which are part of the Broadband for All initiative.

Including the $207 million announced today, $829 million has now been awarded for California broadband projects in 35 counties.
