The BEAD Program has allocated $1.86 billion to California for bringing high-speed internet to unserved and underserved residents.
The announcement means California has awarded more than $1 billion in broadband grants to 52 counties in the state.
The California last-mile update provided further details about a $48 million award that was announced on January 30.
The California broadband grants announced yesterday come on the heels of two other recent funding announcements.
$25 million of the California broadband funding will go to Federal Funding Account grants for last-mile services in Kings County.
About 163,000 residents will benefit from the California awards, which are part of the Broadband for All initiative.
