NTIA has allocated $1356M in BEAD funding to Louisiana. The state already has two broadband infrastructure funding programs.
Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO) is Louisiana’s multiphase broadband infrastructure competitive grant program. GUMBO funds broadband infrastructure
projects in areas that currently lack access to internet at
speeds of 25/3 Mbps.GUMBO is designed to provide internet service with speeds of 100/100 Mbps symmetrical to households and businesses upon project completion. The program received $176.7 million from the Treasury Capital Projects Fund.
-The GUMBO program targets investment for areas lacking internet speeds of 25/3Mb per second. The goal is that by 2029, every address will have broadband availability with speeds of connection up to 1/1GB per second as well as the capacity and digital skills necessary to accomplish common tasks.
