Press Release

Elizabethtown, Kentucky — November 18, 2016 – Bluegrass Cellular customers in select areas now have access to LTE Advanced, the next evolution of 4G LTE – the fastest and most advanced network available – on their mobile devices.

LTE Advanced is the nation’s largest and fastest-growing network. When using a compatible device in Bluegrass’s coverage area, users will experience up to 50% faster download speeds. The technology works by combining multiple wireless connections for added capacity, which then increases speed for users.

Bluegrass’s 4G LTE expansion is made possible in part through Bluegrass’s partnership with Verizon Wireless. In 2010, Bluegrass became the first regional carrier to partner with Verizon’s LTE in Rural America program. As a result of the partnership, Bluegrass’s high-speed network in Central Kentucky is available to Verizon customers as well as its own. In return, Bluegrass Cellular customers have access to Verizon’s LTE network throughout the entire United States.

“We’re dedicated to bringing the most advanced wireless technology home to Kentucky,” said Ron Smith, President & CEO for Bluegrass Cellular. “Because of this, more of our wireless customers will have access to the fastest wireless network there is. Making this technology available in our community is something we’re very proud of and will continue to focus on in the future.”

In order to take advantage of the network, users will need to verify they have the latest software update loaded on their mobile devices, but they will not have to sign up for an additional service or make changes to their plans.

The following Bluegrass Cellular devices can be used to take advantage of 4G LTE Advanced:
