Blackfoot Telecommunications Upgrades Fiber Ring

Ottawa, ON/Marietta, GA –October 13, 2010 – Optelian, a trusted designer and manufacturer of optical transport systems, today announced that Blackfoot Telecommunications Group has deployed its LightGAIN 40-channel DWDM system.

A significant advantage of the LightGAIN is its building-block architecture – optical network functions and system intelligence are packaged in standard plug and play modules. As a result, network designs are quickly and easily configured for any application.

Blackfoot was experiencing increased customer demand for new 10 Gb/s and GbE services but its existing fiber ring was nearing exhaust. By deploying the LightGAIN 40-channel DWDM system, Blackfoot was able to quickly add additional capacity.

“Optelian gave us outstanding support during test and turn-up,” said Frank Creasia, vice president – Network Operations, Blackfoot Telecommunications Group. “Optelian provided quick delivery and training of our personnel made the installation and subsequent channel additions very easy.”

Dave Mills, VP Sales at Optelian noted that the additional capacity of the LightGAIN DWDM system facilitated the quick and easy activation of a GbE circuit request soon after installation.
